The Minister of Industry and Trade, Ryad Mezzour, indicated on Tuesday in the Chamber of Councilors that Morocco has 180 industrial projects for the development of mining resources within the framework of the Bank of projects.
Mezzour, who was responding to an oral question on “the government’s strategy for the promotion of the mining industry” presented by the National Rally of Independents (RNI) group, stressed that this sector is one of the largest industrial ecosystems in Morocco, adding in this sense that 87% of national exports are processed and valued products and not raw materials.
And to note that the largest industrial operator in Morocco is the OCP group which is also the world leader in the phosphate fertilizer market, adding that the Kingdom has a certain number of mining industries, and proceeds to the valuation of several materials. raw materials such as cobalt, manganese, phosphate and potash for fertilizers, in addition to copper.
In response to another oral question on “the creation of industrial zones for the promotion of private investment” posed by the RNI group, the Minister emphasized the need to have an adequate land base for the projects in place, noting that industrial zones offer a structuring framework that brings together the necessary conditions to establish an industrial activity.
